Multiple Hypotheses Testing with Partial Prior Information

چکیده
By modifying the optimal criterion of Kudo (1967), an alternative theory is developed for incorporating prior probabilities into multiple hypotheses testing. Unlike Kudo’s theory, an explicit optimal test can be obtained. It is shown that the optimal test is a natural extension of some well-known tests such as the maximum likelihood test.

Partial Knowledge in Multiple-Choice Testing
The intent of this study was to discover the nature of (partial) knowledge as estimated by the multiple-choice (MC) test method. An MC test of vocabulary, including 20 items, was given to 10 participants. Each examinee was required to think aloud while focusing on each item before and while making a response. After each test taker was done with each item, s/he was ...
متن کاملBayesian Fuzzy Hypothesis Testing with Imprecise Prior Distribution
This paper considers the testing of fuzzy hypotheses on the basis of a Bayesian approach. For this, using a notion of prior distribution with interval or fuzzy-valued parameters, we extend a concept of posterior probability of a fuzzy hypothesis. Some of its properties are also put into investigation. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methods are also cla...

متن کاملDiscussion of “ Multiple Testing for Exploratory Research ” by J . J . Goeman and
Goeman and Solari [Statist. Sci. 26 (2011) 584–597] have addressed the interesting topic of multiple testing for exploratory research, and provided us with nice suggestions for exploratory analysis. They defined properties that an inferential procedure should have for exploratory analysis: the procedure should be mild, flexible and post hoc. Their inferential procedure gives a lower bound on th...
متن کاملBlending Bayesian and frequentist methods according to the precision of prior information with applications to hypothesis testing
The following zero-sum game between nature and a statistician blends Bayesian methods with frequentist methods such as p-values and con dence intervals. Nature chooses a posterior distribution consistent with a set of possible priors. At the same time, the statistician selects a parameter distribution for inference with the goal of maximizing the minimum Kullback-Leibler information gained over...
